I started to work trough the first lesson of God knows how many to learn some Thai.
I took a course with NHA, a dutch language shool for around 60 languages it seems, of which one is Thai.
It came well recommended by a dutch fellow I met in Patong Phuket in December who said it worked really well for him and the assistance from their teacher had proven excellent. Well, not being at home at the learning a language - business I took his advice and entered the course. Also because it was also prominently positioned on the www.tHaiportal.nl site, which by the way shows lots of different news from and about Thailand and the Thai.
Working trough the first pages, and listening to the first vocal lessons on the CD's delivered with the course, I get a scare: will I ever be able to manage to learn this language. A real "pfffffff" it will be for a while, I am sure!
I wonder if I understand a bloody thing of it...but well, I get strenght from the announcement in the first lesson that this first lesson is just an introduction and I don't have to learn it by heart...Bless these guys ;-)
All will come back in the lessons following this first introduction.
Well, keep you posted if I change my mind about how difficult Thai is, haha ..... only wondeirng how long that will be :-))

Thai language course & my house!
Yesterday at the end of the workingday I received my Thai course I ordered at NHA. This institute was wel recommended as an effective way to learn Thai in word, speach and writing.
Well, now I have a load of homework to do as a Thai language student, haha....well, lets see how I deal with it!
I know I have to learn the language to make my acceptance in the world of the Thai more easy.
One also needs to understand their way of thinking, and when one can read and speak (+write) Thai, it helps enourmously!
Now, for the first time in decades back behind the books.....really curious how this will play out!
I hope by the time I go back to Thailand & Kik in April, I'll be able to speak more Thai and understand it a little bit better then I do now, which is more or less zero ;-)
Also the first respons to my house getting on the market is promissing, after the previous weekend it was placed on the market, 3 appontments have been made for a vieuwing. That might indicate that my askingprice for the house, 575.000 euro, is not too crazy, hehe, but might actually be realistic in the present market setting.
Well, as they say: eating is the proof of the pudding, so lets wait and see if the vieuwing will be followed up by more vieuwings and offers, which ofcourse means that a fish might bite and as such can be caught!
The sooner the better, I say, because that means more clarity and the more one can get in as early a state as possible the better!!
Now I have to concentrate on my taxes, the paers for the sale of my house, etc.
So lets go back to work!!

BTW excuse my english or dutch writing, I do not check my spelling all the time or the way I phrase things. Just let the words flow out of my fingers on the screen... hope you manage to read trough sometimes simple mistakes ;-)

Wat gebeurd er weer een hoop... en terug in Nederland!

Ben nu twee weken terug in Nederland en wat is er een hoop gebeurd zeg, nou ja... ja!
Huis is in de verkoop gezet. De DWH is op de hoogte dat medio oktober er een nieuwe voorzitter moet komen, als alles goed gaat wat de plannen betreft. Ook bij de lokale VVD weten ze inmiddels dat ik van plan ben naar Thailand te gaan als ik alles daarvoor rond kan krijgen. Mijn familie stelt zich tot nu toe ook erg positief op, mede omdat zij Kik in augustus allemaal hebben ontmoet en net als ik een goed gevoel bij hem hebben.
Ook ben ik steeds lichtelijk bang en nerveus want het is nogal een stap.... en hoe meer ik er over lees hoe banger ik wordt. Maar tegelijkertijd raak ik ook steeds meer vastbesloten om alle mogelijke beren die ik op de weg zie, te schieten resp. te omzeilen... waarom?
Omdat Kik zo enorm de moeite waard is om al deze moeite te doen. Ik merk dat ik hem heel erg mis, en gelukkig maar want anders zou ik natuurlijk alsnog afhaken. Maar niets van dat alles!! In tegendeel!!
Heb ook al een vliegticket gekocht om terug te gaan in april, moet nu nog naar de Thaise ambassade voor een visum.
Ook moet ik een concept contract krijgen van Pranee, de eigenaar van het pand dat ik voor 3 jaar wil gaan huren in Patong. Dit zodat alles door een advocaat van mijn keuze kan worden nagekeken en akkoord bevonden. Als dat allemaal goed verloopt kan ik het contract tekenen in april en meer definitieve plannen maken.
Maar wat er ook gebeurd, ik wil in november mij in Thailand vestigen en met Kik een leven opbouwen.......... zo veel te doen, zoveel na te gaan, zo veel te organiseren.
Haha, en dan realiseer ik mij dat ik het nog niet eens gehad heb over 50 jaar worden in oktober en trouwen. Kik al op de hoogte gebracht van de papieren rompslomp die rondgemaakt moet worden en de benodigde toestemming van de IND (die willen zoveel mogelijk schijnhuwelijken voorkomen!). Als alles goed gaat zal hij al die papieren in april hebben, zodat wij dan alles rond kunnen maken en vervolgens ik in Nederland het Nederlandse deel kan aftikken met de Burgerlijke Stand in Delft.
Gut, als ik zo het e.e.a. neertype, krijg ik weer de kriebels van de hoeveelheid zaken te doen.
O, schiet me ook te binnen: ziektekostenverzekering, belastingen, en al dat soort dingen, pfffff...... echt iets om naar uit te kijken.
En maar hopen dat ik ook de discipline heb om alles tijdig gedaan te krijgen, want dit ventje laat zich best makkelijk afleiden. We gaan het merken!
Ga proberen hier bij te houden wat er de komende maanden allemaal gebeurd, zal niet regelmatig zijn, maar toch.
